Electrochemotherapy (ECT) increases the uptake of chemotherapy locally by applying electrical pulses to the tumor itself. This allows treatment of cancers that are generally not responsive to chemotherapy, in a place on the body that a surgery cannot be successful (such as the head or limb) or along a surgery scar to treat residual cancer cells.
